Class multiplier (1% to 2.5%) × years of service × final average salary · Checked against PSERS's published rules · November 2026
PSERS multiplies years of service by your class multiplier: 2.5% for Class T-D and T-F, 2% for T-C and T-E, and 1.25% or 1% for the hybrid classes T-G and T-H. The table turns full at superannuation, which for T-D is 62, 60 with 30 years, or 35 years at any age. From 55 with 25 years, the special early retirement cuts 0.25% for each month short of superannuation. Earlier retirements, marked with an asterisk, use an actuarial reduction, so the real figure is lower.

Percent of final average salary, before tax and before any survivor-option reduction. Green cells are unreduced. An asterisk means the plan applies its own early-retirement table, so the amount you receive is lower than the figure shown. A dash means you cannot retire yet at that age and service.
Turning a percentage into dollars
Multiply the percentage by your final average salary and divide by twelve. At 60% of an $80,000 average, the pension is $48,000 a year, or $4,000 a month. Average of your three highest school-year salaries (five highest for Class T-G and T-H). The PSERS calculator does the arithmetic for any age, service and salary, and the pension by years table shows monthly amounts at common salaries.
How to use the chart
Find your expected service in the columns and read down to see how the benefit changes as you wait. The jump from one row to the next shows what an extra year at work is worth. When a whole row turns green, that age is unreduced for that service. To find the exact day you reach it, use the retirement date finder.
